Warts: when to observe & when to discuss removal
Common skin warts are benign growths caused by human papillomavirus. They can appear on the hands, feet and other sites and may persist or recur.

Understanding warts
Not every rough growth is a wart. Examination is useful for a changing, painful or uncertain lesion, especially when immunity is reduced.
This guide expands on the warts topic listed on My Practice. It is a starting point for a conversation, rather than a diagnosis from a picture or a treatment prescription.
Assessment & care options
Some warts can be observed. Treatment options may include topical preparations, cryotherapy or other procedures, chosen for the site and symptoms. Repeated treatment may be needed.
During a consultation with Dr Saira Mohsin in Lahore, explain what has changed, how long it has been present and what you have already tried. Bring the names or packaging of current skincare and medicines so the discussion can account for your existing routine.

Make your consultation useful
- Share the full story. Note when the concern began, changes over time and any previous diagnoses. Photographs can help show a flare that has settled.
- Discuss your priorities. Tell the clinician about discomfort, daily disruption, work, sleep or appearance concerns, and ask what is realistic for your situation.
- Leave with a clear plan. Ask about treatment instructions, possible side effects, the timing of a review and how to contact the clinic if something changes.
When to ask for medical advice
Do not cut or burn a growth at home. Ask before using wart treatments on the face, genital skin or if you have diabetes or poor circulation.
Questions before your visit
Will one treatment always remove a wart?
No. Response varies, several sessions may be needed and recurrence is possible. Your clinician can discuss the benefits and downsides of each option.
