Different patterns. Different needs.

What is behind your pigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation describes areas that look darker than the surrounding skin. Identifying the cause helps guide treatment and reduce new marks.

01

Marks after inflammation

Acne, eczema, irritation or injury can leave flat brown marks. Managing the original skin problem is an important part of care.

02

Melasma-like patches

Blotchy facial pigmentation may be linked to melasma. Sun exposure and hormonal changes can contribute; an examination helps confirm the diagnosis.

03

Sun-related dark spots

Some spots develop on areas regularly exposed to sunlight. A skin check should come before cosmetic treatment because different conditions can look similar.

Have a new, changing, bleeding or unusual spot assessed rather than trying to fade it with cosmetic products.

Your treatment plan

The right approach for your skin tone and concerns.

Discuss the likely benefits, limitations, cost and recovery of each suitable option before deciding on treatment.

01

Targeted skin care

A dermatologist may recommend topical treatment, such as azelaic acid or a prescription option, alongside a manageable routine. Selection depends on the diagnosis and skin tolerance.

02

Selected chemical peels

Peels may help some superficial pigment concerns. The formulation, preparation and aftercare need individual assessment; stronger treatment does not automatically mean a better result.

03

Procedures when appropriate

Laser or light-based treatment may be considered for selected pigment problems. It is not suitable for every case and can cause unwanted colour changes, so careful assessment matters.

04

Sun protection & maintenance

Daily protection and consistent follow-up support your plan. Pigmentation can return, and conditions such as melasma often need ongoing management.

Care between visits

Daily habits are part of the plan.

  • Protect every day. Use broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Reapply at least every two hours outdoors and after swimming or sweating; seek shade and wear a hat.
  • Ask about tinted sunscreen. For melasma, iron oxide in a tinted sunscreen can help protect against visible light.
  • Keep skin care gentle. Irritation can worsen dark marks. Avoid harsh scrubbing and discuss products that sting or burn.
  • Follow your own instructions. Use prescribed treatment as directed and check before adding another active ingredient or arranging a procedure.

Pigmentation treatment FAQs

Use your consultation to discuss the details that apply to your skin. Results, recovery and suitability vary.

Which treatment is best for pigmentation?

There is no single treatment for every dark spot. The diagnosis, skin tone and previous reactions help determine whether skin care, prescription treatment or a procedure is appropriate.

How long does it take to see a change?

Fading is usually gradual. Some marks take months, while deeper pigmentation can last longer. Ask for a realistic review schedule; no fixed result or number of sessions can be promised.

Will I need a laser treatment?

Not necessarily. Many plans start with sun protection and topical treatment. Procedures are considered selectively after weighing likely benefits and side effects.

Can pigmentation come back?

Yes. Sun exposure and continuing triggers can lead to new pigmentation. Melasma can be persistent, so maintenance and daily protection may remain important after improvement.

Is there any downtime?

It depends on the treatment. A cream may irritate the skin, while a procedure may cause temporary redness, peeling or darkening. Discuss your skin’s risks and the aftercare plan before proceeding.

How much will my treatment cost?

Request an assessment before choosing a package. The proposed approach, number of visits and products needed should be discussed with the clinic before you decide.
